About Verizon
Verizon was founded in April 2000 in New Jersey. Since then, the company has expanded to become one of the biggest telecommunication providers in the United States. Verizon’s data network covers 97% of the US. Verizon offers in-home and business internet and television services. They are most noteably known for their cell phone coverage and devices. Have you considered switching to Verizon? This shopping guide will give you an idea of what you can expect while shopping on Verizon.com.
Shopping on Verizon’s Websites
Verizon has three main websites: Wireless, Residential, and Business. The Verizon Wireless website primarily offers cell phones, smartphones, and tablets. Browse brands including Apple, Samsung, HTC, and Motorola. You can choose from different generations of iPhones or Samsung Galaxy phones. Choose from one of three payment options. You can pay in monthly installments, upfront retail price, and prepaid phones. The smartphone section of Verizon’s website outlines how much you’ll pay per month if you opt for monthly payments. You can compare phone models based on a variety of factors beyond just price. Compare battery life, storage, operating system, camera, screen size, customer rating, and more.
Phones, Tablets, & Accessories
Verizon also carries a small inventory of regular cell phones. In Verizon’s tablet section, you’ll find Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy tablets. You’ll also find LG G Pads, and Verizon Ellipsis tablets. Some come with 2-year contracts (for data-enabled tablets). The wifi-only tablets do not require a contract. Like Verizon’s smartphone selection, you can pay for a tablet upfront or over the course of 24 months in monthly installments.
In addition to phones and tablets, Verizon also sells wearable tech (such as Fitbits) and mobile hotspots. Find wireless internet routers and accessories for phones, computers, and televisions. Verizon offers free shipping on all orders. You don’t have to worry about paying extra if you live too far from a Verizon retail location.
Verizon Phone Plans
Verizon offers several different phone plans for various personal and business needs. There is the Verizon Plan, which includes unlimited talk and text plus a data package for one device ranging from small to XXL. There is a $20 per month smartphone line cost in Verizon’s fine print. Be sure to read everything very thoroughly to get an accurate idea of what you’ll be paying for your Verizon plan.
Verizon also offers prepaid smartphone plans with no annual contract, no activation fee, no credit check, and free, next-day shipping on all devices ordered online. Plans start at $30 per month (talk + text only; Internet access is wifi only) and go up to $60 per month for unlimited talk and text, plus 5GB of data per month. These costs do not include monthly payments for the smartphone itself. To save money, you could opt for a basic cell phone and choose from plans ranging from $15 to $30 per month for talk/text and unlimited data. There are also prepaid data plans for tablet devices if you want more than just wifi on your iPad or Galaxy tablet.
Going abroad? Verizon offers coverage in over 200 countries through their international plans. The Verizon TravelPass costs $2 per day for talk, text, and data access in Mexico and Canada, or $10 per day for access in one of 100 eligible countries. Would you rather pay as you go? Be sure to check out Verizon’s International Travel Preferred Pricing Plan (costs depend on how much data you use and where you’re traveling). You can even rent a satellite phone from Verizon.
Fios TV
Verizon has a television service called Fios TV. You can choose from existing TV plans or build a customized plan with your favorite channels included. Traditional TV plans include Preferred HD (235+ channels), Extreme HD (320 channels), and Ultimate HD (420+ channels, including 135+ in HD), as well as basic television packages such as Fios Local TV (20 channels for $10 per month). You can mix and match channels that suite your viewing habits. Fios TV also gives you access to premium channels – HBO, ShowTime, Starz, Cinemax, and Epix – for an extra monthly fee.
Television equipment and installation services are also customizable to include show recordings on enhanced DVRs, set-top boxes, SD/HD viewing, and live TV streaming options from remote, compatible devices.
Verizon – Fios Internet
Fios Internet plans allow you to hook up over eight devices to the high-speed internet options Verizon has available. You can also rent a Fios router for a flat monthly fee instead of purchasing your own. Be sure to check out Verizon’s fiber optic cable internet options. Get a one-of-a-kind web browsing experience for your home or office.
Verizon Deals
Looking to save money on anything from a new smartphone to tablet accessories? Verizon’s Deals section has incredible discounts from major brands including Apple and Verizon itself. Many items are more affordable with a 2-year contract but don’t get sucked into a “bargain” if you’re not sure you’ll stick it out for 24 months. Verizon also has an exclusive, online-only offer to waive activation and upgrade fees by purchasing your new device from the Verizon website.
Discounts for Military & Veterans
Are you an active member of the military or a veteran? Verizon has several discounts available for military personnel, including 15% off your monthly Verizon Wireless service plan and 25% off select accessories. Valid forms of ID are required to qualify, but it’s easy to apply so don’t miss out on this possible discount opportunity!
Device Trade-In
Have an old cell phone, smartphone, or tablet? Don’t just recycle it – send it to Verizon to see if it’s worth anything to the Verizon Device Trade-In Program. You can guesstimate how much your device is worth through a quick online survey. If you decide to trade it in, then you’ll receive an electronic gift card to use while shopping for a new device or accessories on Verizon’s website.
Verizon Customer Support
Verizon has multiple channels of communication available to their customers. You can choose the live chat option on their website (it’ll sometimes pop up while you’re browsing so you can talk to an agent in real time). You can also use the Verizon Wireless Community Forums and Verizon Wireless Support on Twitter. Call customer service at 1-800-922-0204 or visit a local Verizon store for more assistance.
Verizon Wireless on Social Media
Verizon is active on several social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Most of their posts are just advertisements for new electronics. Sometimes they’ll offer the occasional contest or plan discount as well. What are you waiting for? Grab a coupon from this page and save.
Free shipping is available for all orders within the contiguous United States.
